C3 AI’s CEO, Tom Siebel, shares his insights on the immensely powerful technology during an appearance on The Claman Countdown.
Before the widespread availability of generative artificial intelligence tools like ChatGPT, there were concerns about AI potentially replacing humans in various professions. Recent data shows that a significant majority of American workers have worries about AI taking over their job functions, despite recognizing its benefits.
In a recent survey by Spokeo, 66.6% of the 1,027 participants admitted that AI could potentially perform their job responsibilities. Moreover, 74.8% expressed concerns about the technology’s impact on their industries.
The survey findings from Spokeo indicate that while many American workers believe AI could take over their roles, they also acknowledge the long-term benefits of this technology.
Spokeo’s CEO, Harrison Tang, highlighted the shift in perception, stating, “After a year of headlines about AI taking over the world, it’s no surprise that two-thirds of individuals now believe AI could replicate their job functions. The profound impact of ChatGPT on society has exceeded our wildest expectations.”
Whether due to realizing that numerous tasks can be automated or the prevalent media narrative portraying AI as more advanced than reality, the consensus is that AI’s potential is being recognized.
Almost 75% of the surveyed workforce expressed concerns about the impending impact of AI on their sectors.
The survey shows that American workers are optimistic about the future of work, with 78.1% anticipating that AI could reduce job-related stress and 76.7% believing it could lead to a shorter workweek.
WHAT IS CHATGPT?
A significant majority of respondents, 79.1%, suggested that employers should offer training on ChatGPT and other AI tools.
The majority of survey participants showed confidence in AI’s ability to streamline their job responsibilities.
Tang pointed out the contrast in public perception regarding AI, with most recognizing its long-term benefits while also having short-term concerns about job security. He stressed the importance for business leaders to address these concerns by highlighting the advantages of AI and easing fears among employees.
“While AI may appear all-knowing, we should have faith in humanity’s adaptability, developed over millions of years of evolution,” Tang emphasized. “AI is a tool that we can utilize and control for positive outcomes. Its purpose is not to replace humans but to enhance those who embrace its capabilities.”
