On the eve of my son’s recent graduation celebration, I found myself procrastinating on crafting a farewell speech. Doubts lingered in my mind about my ability to capture the essence of a great speech, articulate it effectively, and captivate every listener. Eventually, after exhausting all my ideas, I turned to my ChatGPT account, hoping that its instantaneous suggestions might surpass my own efforts.
Indeed, the input I provided yielded a well-crafted speech on ChatGPT’s platform. Yet, as I reviewed the text, it seemed devoid of human touch. The automatically generated sentences appeared superficial and at times even fabricated, recounting anecdotes like “I’ll always cherish the moments when my brother indulged in syrup-filled cakes” or “Upon your return from college, I guarantee victory over you in Mario Kart.”
In reality, my brother holds no fondness for cakes, and my preferred pastime with him involves one-on-one baseball matches in our yard. These recollections flooded my mind, reminiscing about the nights we sneaked downstairs to watch movies when sleep eluded us, or the summers spent concocting mocktails from random fridge ingredients to delight my nephew.
