Google’s Chrome web browser is set to receive an infusion of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in its latest update. The company has announced the upcoming addition of three new AI-powered features to Chrome for Mac and Windows. These features include intelligent tab organization, customizable themes, and assistance with writing tasks on the web, such as forum posts and online reviews.
The writing assistance feature in Chrome is akin to a functionality already present in Google’s experimental AI search experience, SGE (Search Generative Experience). This tool helps users draft content like emails in various tones and lengths, offering formal or casual language options.
The new writing helper in Chrome will enable users to compose business reviews, craft RSVPs, make inquiries, and write forum posts with ease. By right-clicking on a text box or field on the web and selecting “help me write,” users can access this feature in the upcoming Chrome release.
Additionally, AI will assist in organizing tab groups and personalizing the browser. The Tab Organizer feature will automatically suggest and create tab groups based on the user’s open tabs, simplifying the management process. Users can also generate custom themes for Chrome using AI, selecting themes based on subject, mood, visual style, and color.
While the generative AI wallpaper experience was initially introduced on Android devices, users can now leverage the same technology to create custom themes for Chrome. This feature allows for greater personalization beyond the pre-existing theme options.
Google plans to introduce more AI and machine learning features to Chrome in the future, leveraging integrations with its new AI model, Gemini. These advancements aim to enhance the browsing experience and provide users with innovative tools for productivity and personalization.
