There exist two distinct groups of individuals with regards to technology. One faction seeks all-encompassing functionality in their devices, whether it be a phone, car, or TV. Conversely, there are those who prefer specialized devices that excel in performing specific tasks.
Unfortunately, the latter group has been at a disadvantage for quite some time, especially evident in the realm of television technology, as highlighted during CES 2024 by the overwhelming presence of AI. Every press release and executive presentation at the event seemed to emphasize the integration of AI technology.
AI, simply an acronym for “Artificial Intelligence,” represents a novel approach to processing and interpreting data. The manufacturers unveiling their 2024 TV models at various Las Vegas events showcased diverse applications of AI technology.
Scott Ramirez, TCL’s vice president of marketing and development, underscored the significance of enhanced processing in delivering superior picture quality during the company’s press conference. This AI-powered upscaling, a long-standing technology, is now a standard feature in TVs. TCL is introducing AI-powered upscaling across its lineup with three processors: AIPQ in S5 and Q6 models, AIPQ Pro in QM7 and QM8 models, and AIPQ Ultra in the massive 115-inch QM89 TV.
Many CES presentations went beyond mere content upscaling, focusing on elevating the overall user experience. Hisense, for example, aims to tailor experiences for the entire family using its Hi-View Engine chipsets, incorporating deep learning and various technologies to enhance viewing experiences.
LG, on the other hand, envisions AI as an integral part of its overall strategy, not limited to individual products. The company’s CEO, William (Joowan) Cho, described LG’s AI as an orchestrated intelligence that caters to customers’ needs through interactive conversation and contextual understanding, ultimately generating optimal solutions.
Samsung, too, is embracing AI across its product portfolio, leveraging traditional computing processors alongside graphics processors and neural processors. This comprehensive approach aims to deliver a seamless user experience, with AI enhancing various aspects of Samsung devices, such as fitness assessments through the Samsung Health application.
In essence, artificial intelligence is revolutionizing the tech industry, promising a future where devices seamlessly integrate AI capabilities to enhance user interactions and overall functionality.
