Samsung aims to revolutionize the capabilities of AI assistants by introducing a new innovation that breaks free from the confines of stationary devices like smart speakers. This cutting-edge AI, revealed on Wednesday (Dec. 27) and set to be showcased at CES in Las Vegas next month, is currently dubbed as “LG’s wise home AI broker.”
The device, resembling a miniature Segway with headphones, autonomously navigates through homes on two electric wheels, seamlessly moving across various surfaces with the help of visual and depth-sensing technologies. Equipped with cameras and Qualcomm’s Robotics RB5 Platform, it can identify pets, recognize household items, and monitor environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, and air quality. Additionally, the AI broker can adjust connected devices like heaters, air conditioners, and humidifiers to maintain optimal settings.
Noteworthy features include articulated knee joints that enable the robot to express emotions through movement. When homeowners are away, they can command the device to patrol their premises, keeping a watchful eye on pets and detecting unusual events like intrusions or energy wastage. Alerts are sent to the user’s smartphone for prompt action, such as remotely turning off lights left on accidentally via a connected smart outlet.
Upon the user’s return, the AI broker greets them at the door and utilizes voice and facial analysis to discern their mood, selecting music or providing relevant information accordingly. This personalized interaction enhances the overall user experience, although it may require an adjustment period. LG plans to unveil this innovative device to the public at CES next month.
In addition to its home monitoring capabilities, the AI broker functions akin to popular assistants like Alexa, engaging users in conversations ranging from news updates to scheduling tasks. Leveraging advanced technologies such as voice recognition, natural language processing, and speech synthesis, it offers a seamless and interactive user experience.
While details regarding the availability and pricing of LG’s wise home AI broker remain undisclosed, its promising features indicate a significant advancement in the realm of AI-assisted living.
