Insta360 is introducing its latest offering, the Ace Pro, which shifts the focus towards video quality over versatility compared to its Go series. In a market where DJI’s Osmo Action 4 and GoPro’s Hero 12 are leading the pack in action cameras for 2023, the new Ace Pro by Insta360 stands out as a powerhouse with its 2.4-inch touch screen, 1.3-inch sensor, Leica calibration, and a cutting-edge 5nm AI processor. This device can be likened to a GoPro on steroids, boasting features like “FlowState Stabilization,” IPX8 waterproof rating up to 33 feet (10 meters), and a swappable battery lasting up to 100 minutes in 4K@30fps with Active HDR.
Insta360 claims that the Ace Pro delivers superior low-light performance for both videos (up to 4K@30fps in “PureVideo” mode) and photos (up to 48 megapixels) by leveraging AI denoising alongside its new image sensor. The emphasis is on enhanced color accuracy, with an “Active HDR Video” mode that activates automatically in suitable lighting conditions. The camera supports recording at 4K@60fps for slow-motion or even 8K@24fps, though these modes do not benefit from AI enhancements or Active HDR.
Beyond just enhancing image quality, Insta360 has simplified picture editing by introducing the “AI Highlights Assistant.” This feature automatically identifies the best segments of your video in real-time, allowing for on-the-spot editing on the camera itself. The edited content can then be swiftly transferred to your phone via the Insta360 mobile app.
The introduction of the “AI Warp” feature in the mobile app’s “Shot Lab” template section further simplifies editing tasks. This feature enables users to transform their videos into various styles like cyberpunk, anime, or superhero themes. Insta360 hints at more AI-driven enhancements coming to their mobile apps in 2024.
The Insta360 Ace Pro is currently on sale, with the standard package priced at \(450 and includes essential accessories like adhesive mounts. For a more budget-friendly option, the Ace Pro Win, priced at \)380, offers slightly lower specs but retains most features. Optional accessories include a waterproof case, quick release mount, GPS preview remote, and other mounts and adapters for added versatility.
