John Roberts, the chief justice of the Supreme Court, recently released his annual year-end report on the federal courts (NewsNation). Critics pointed out the absence of any mention of former President Donald Trump in his report. Instead, Roberts focused on the role of artificial intelligence in the legal system.
Roberts emphasized the critical role of artificial intelligence in legal proceedings, highlighting its potential to enhance access to essential information for legal professionals and the general public. However, he also cautioned against the potential risks associated with AI, including privacy violations and the dehumanization of the legal process.
Meanwhile, Gypsy Rose Blanchard has been actively engaging in activities since her recent transfer.
During an appearance on “NewsNation Today,” Stuart Kaplan, a defense attorney and former FBI agent, analyzed the report and discussed the ethical implications of AI in the justice system.
Kaplan expressed skepticism about the possibility of artificial intelligence replacing the human element essential for making informed judgments. He stressed the evolving nature of the rule of law, emphasizing the importance of empathy, compassion, and emotional intelligence in legal decision-making. While acknowledging the benefits of technology, Kaplan underscored the inherent risks and expressed unease at the prospect of lawyers relying solely on AI tools.
Kaplan firmly stated, “Artificial intelligence cannot and, in my belief, will never supplant the role of a judge or fact-finder, although it can streamline judicial processes.”
