During the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence Summit 2023, occurring from December 12 to 14, Rohit Thomas, aged 25, Ng Joo Kiat, and Cajun Tai Ka Joon, aged 23, presented their groundbreaking project titled “RescueAI: Smart city disaster digital twin with robotic autonomy.”

Their project highlighted the remarkable potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in addressing real-world challenges and displayed a sophisticated crisis control system aimed at safeguarding marine and human life while combatting plastic waste.

At the heart of their success was Thomas, an accomplished electrical and electronics engineering graduate, who spearheaded the project. The team leveraged advanced technologies such as digital twin, language processing tools for enhanced speech recognition, AI-powered drones, and object detection sensors to revolutionize crisis response scenarios.

Through the integration of machine vision and natural language processing, the team developed a public-facing mobile app that automates the analysis of user-submitted reports, expediting the disaster management process significantly.

Their system, RescueAI, demonstrated unparalleled efficiency in disaster scenarios, utilizing AI and NLP features to streamline operations and improve response times.
