When it comes to YouTube videos, Google has enhanced the capabilities of the Bard AI robot to enable more engaging and profound conversations. In its latest study release log, the company announced improvements to Bard’s YouTube extension, allowing the generative AI to “comprehend certain video content.” For example, users can now ask Bard about specific details like the number of eggs used in a recipe for olive oil bread. This update also enables users to inquire about the names of tools featured in homemade videos, as suggested by Android Authority. Bard can even provide information on the locations of restaurants mentioned in movies or the origins of certain foods for culinary insights.
Following an update that integrates Bard with other Google services such as Docs, Maps, Lens, flights, and accommodations, Bard gained the ability to extract data from YouTube in September. However, at that time, it was unable to summarize the content of a movie or offer detailed responses to related queries. Google introduced this enhancement in response to users expressing a desire for a more profound engagement with YouTube videos.
Furthermore, Google mentioned that this update marks only the initial phase of Bard’s capacity to comprehend YouTube videos, hinting at the potential for more in-depth analysis of videos on the platform in the future. To interact with Bard regarding YouTube videos, users need to enable the YouTube extension on the chatbot’s web portal.
