OpenAI’s Sam Altman has introduced a novel video-generating tool named Sora, which allows users to request customized videos. Sora has the capability to produce lifelike videos based on user inputs, which can include images and longer video clips. While the tool is currently undergoing safety evaluations, it has already demonstrated its potential by creating a user-requested video featuring golden retrievers engaged in a podcasting session.
Altman is now accepting requests for video creations through his innovative tool. The AI company, known for its ChatGPT, unveiled Sora recently, highlighting its ability to generate realistic videos based on user-provided prompts. Users can submit images or longer videos along with their requests to personalize the generated content.
Although Sora is still in the testing phase with a limited user group, Altman has offered a sneak peek into its capabilities by bringing some user prompts to life. One such request involved two golden retrievers podcasting on a mountain, and the resulting video was not only accurate but also intricately detailed, featuring the dogs with headphones, microphones, and a red picnic blanket for their podcasting setup.
Altman shared these outcomes on Twitter, showcasing the impressive results produced by Sora. The tool successfully fulfilled various requests, such as depicting a half-duck, half-dragon flying alongside a hamster in adventure gear during a sunset scene. Additionally, Sora showcased sea creatures with human-like legs riding bicycles on water in response to a request for different animals as athletes.
Furthermore, a user’s prompt for an instructional cooking session for homemade gnocchi led to a convincing video featuring a grandmother social media influencer in a rustic Tuscan country kitchen.
OpenAI’s introduction of Sora follows the widespread success of its ChatGPT AI chatbot, which gained immense popularity and significantly impacted the tech industry.
