Senator Peter Welch delved into the realm of artificial intelligence and its possible impact on Vermont’s agricultural landscape during a recent session of the Senate Agriculture Committee.
Expressing concerns about the challenges that smaller farmers may face in downsizing their reliance on costly systems, Welch emphasized the importance of supporting the viability of these smaller-scale producers in Vermont. He noted that while larger companies may find it easier to absorb expenses over time, many smaller producers are skeptical about the returns on investment.
Senator Welch also raised questions about the diverse applications of AI, including its potential role in enhancing soil health and agricultural practices.
