**Samsung Set to Unveil AI-Enhanced Smartphones on January 17th**

Samsung will show off the features of its new AI-powered phone Jan. 17 at its own event.

Samsung recently announced its intention to host a press conference in San Jose, California, on January 17th to unveil its newest Galaxy smartphones.

As a major competitor to Apple in the smartphone industry, Samsung holds a substantial 20% share globally, slightly edging out Apple’s 16% share, according to data from Counterpoint Research. In the United States, Samsung commands a 25% market share, lagging behind Apple’s dominant 53% share. The integration of innovative features not present in the iPhone could potentially expand Samsung’s customer base.

The upcoming Samsung devices are poised to deliver a groundbreaking mobile experience driven by artificial intelligence (AI), as revealed by the company during a recent announcement. While hints from chip manufacturers like Qualcomm and rivals such as Google suggest potential advancements, the details remain somewhat vague.

Traditionally, Samsung has shown a preference for Qualcomm chips in its American smartphone variants. The upcoming devices, speculated to bear the names Galaxy S24, Galaxy G24+, and Galaxy M24 Ultra, are expected to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Series 8 Gen 3 chipset. Samsung often leads the industry in embracing the latest Qualcomm technologies.

In October, Qualcomm unveiled that its newest Snapdragon processors would enable smartphones to run AI applications locally, without the need for internet connectivity. This advancement facilitates the execution of compact AI applications like ChatGPT offline, enhancing privacy by eliminating the necessity to send queries to external servers.

Furthermore, Qualcomm demonstrated the ability of its processors to generate images based on textual input. For example, entering “create an image that depicts the driver of the car” could prompt the device to generate a corresponding image, similar to the functionality of Google Tensor G3 on the Pixel 8 Pro. By utilizing user input, smartphones can create personalized visual content.

The Pixel 8 Pro incorporates Google’s Gemini Nano AI module, enabling users to transcribe meetings, respond to messages, and improve media content with AI enhancements. The integration of AI algorithms for video and image enhancements is becoming increasingly common in modern smartphones.
