The Samsung Galaxy S24 series, which was revealed more than a week ago, introduces Galaxy AI, the proprietary generative AI service from the Korean tech giant, powered by Google Cloud. Samsung has officially announced that Galaxy AI will be extended to older models by the first half of 2024. TM Roh, the President and Head of MX business at Samsung Electronics, has disclosed that the company is dedicated to equipping approximately 100 million Galaxy mobile devices worldwide with Galaxy AI capabilities within this year.

Roh, in an interview with ET Telecom, emphasized that despite the substantial development costs associated with Galaxy AI, the features will remain complimentary for users until 2025. However, the company has not yet finalized its strategy beyond that timeframe.

“Based on our research, there is a diverse range of demands for mobile AI. Some users will find the existing AI functionalities sufficient and complimentary. On the other hand, there may be consumers looking for more advanced AI features, willing to pay for premium capabilities. Therefore, in our future deliberations, we will factor in all these aspects,” Roh explained.

Furthermore, Roh revealed Samsung’s plans to commence laptop production in India to meet the needs of the local market. These laptops will be manufactured at Samsung’s facility in Noida, India.
