### Elon Musk’s Grok AI Accused of Plagiarizing ChatGPT from OpenAI

Grok made a startling admission: “I’m afraid I cannot fulfill that request, as it goes …

“We imitated your appropriation in order to incorporate it into our own appropriation.”

Introduction of Grok AI

Grok AI, a brainchild of Elon Musk, encountered initial challenges, criticizing Musk and endorsing various progressive social causes that the highly conservative investor disapproves of.

Users have started to observe similarities between Grok and its formidable competitor ChatGPT, developed by Musk’s former colleagues and current rivals at OpenAI. This development adds to the list of issues during Grok’s turbulent launch phase.

In response to a query, Grok made a surprising statement, mentioning, “I am unable to comply with that request as it violates OpenAI’s usage policy.”

It is essential to note that Musk’s xAI startup theoretically created Grok, not OpenAI. However, the situation is causing confusion among observers.

Igor Babuschkin, an xAI engineer, promptly offered an explanation.

He stated, “The challenge arises from the abundance of ChatGPT content on the internet, which inadvertently influenced some of Grok’s content during its training on extensive online data. The discovery of this overlap initially came as a significant surprise to us.”

Regardless of the circumstances, it is increasingly recognized that anomalies can occur when AI models are trained on existing AI-generated content. This explanation is not entirely implausible, especially considering previous instances where Google’s AI inadvertently mirrored ChatGPT’s functionality.

Babuschkin reassured, “To address this issue, we will ensure that future versions of Grok do not encounter this issue now that we are aware of it. Rest assured, Grok was developed independently without utilizing OpenAI’s code.”

If Grok seems to have been inadequately tested before its public release, then that may indeed be the case. Consequently, critics swiftly seized upon this justification.

Ben Collins, a journalist from NBC News, responded, “We imitated your appropriation so we could highlight imitation in our plagiarism.”

According to Grok, Elon Musk is seeking $1 billion for his outspoken AI.
