Nicki Minaj has unveiled the much-anticipated sequel to her debut album Pink Friday, which was released thirteen years ago.
In Pink Friday 2, Minaj confronts her adversaries directly, showcasing the same unwavering wit that has solidified her as a musical icon. This is evident in the track “Great Change,” where she boldly asserts, “It’s a big difference between me and you; ‘Like my hunnids blue,’ ‘Bad bi-hes, yeah, I keep’em by the two,’ and ‘I don’t resemble you at all.’”
Collaborating on this project are Future (Nicki Hendrix), J. Cole (Let Me Calm Down), Lil Uzi Vert (Everybody), and gospel sensation Tasha Cobbs Leonard (Blessings).
One of the standout tracks on the album is the poignant “Last Time I Saw You,” which Minaj recently released, showcasing a more pop-oriented sound. In an interview with Vogue last month, she described it as a song about guilt, expressing, “I don’t believe that there’s a lot of music being made about the experience of guilt. However, if you talk to anyone on this planet, they understand that ‘I wish I had’ feeling. After writing the song, I started reflecting on the people I love, see every day, and often take for granted. Do you catch my drift? I truly hope the song resonates positively with listeners.”
Following her 2018 debut album Queen, which included hits like “Good Form,” “Chun Li,” and “Bed” featuring Ariana Grande, Pink Friday 2 marks Minaj’s latest album release. Queen featured collaborations with Lil Wayne, Future, The Weeknd, and other artists, debuting at No. 1 with 185,000 album-equivalent units on the Billboard 200 chart.
