### Enhancing Windows Keyboards: Introducing the Latest AI Button by Microsoft

Because Microsoft wants 2024 to be the year of the “AI PC.”

With the introduction of a new AI key, Microsoft is implementing the most significant alteration to Windows keys in nearly three years.

The newly introduced “Copilot key” previously occupied the space to the right of the space bar, enabling users to access Microsoft’s recently launched Co-pilot service. This service aids users in various tasks such as document summarization, music recommendations, and interacting with search engines or AI chatbots.

Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft’s Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for clients, announced in a blog post on Thursday that the addition of this AI key aims to simplify users’ engagement with AI technologies. By incorporating the Copilot feature into the Windows experience, Microsoft aims to facilitate its daily usage.

This innovation represents the first significant enhancement to Windows keys in almost three years. Microsoft has been progressively integrating AI capabilities into its flagship products like Windows 11 and the Bing search engine, underscoring its commitment to leveraging artificial intelligence. Copilot leverages advanced language models, particularly OpenAI’s GPT-4.

Leading up to the upcoming Les event and during the event itself, the new key will be accessible on the initial wave of Windows 11 laptops and PCs from Microsoft’s partners. A broader rollout is expected starting from late February through the spring, encompassing future Surface devices. Eventually, the Copilot feature will become an integral part of the Windows experience.

Mehdi expressed, “This novel key will not only streamline but also enhance users’ computing experience, heralding 2024 as the year of the AI-powered PC.”
