Unlimited, formerly known as Rewind, is integrating its conference transcription and labor productivity AI into a smart pendant. To avoid the fate of Humane AI’s Pin, which received discouraging reviews, the company is focusing on enhancing meeting experiences.
The Pendant, initially launched for streamlined meeting facilitation, follows Unlimited’s core approach by prioritizing discretion and seamless integration. Crafted with durability in mind and equipped with a magnetic clasp, it is designed to be worn around the neck or as a piece of jewelry. Similar to other AI transcription services, the Pendant aims to provide summaries, insights, and information extracted from recorded conversations.
Users can easily prompt the system to record a meeting and generate a report by simply pushing a button. Additionally, tapping the Pendant during a conversation allows users to “bookmark” important moments. There is also an option to tap and hold to pose questions to the Pendant, although it remains unclear whether the responses are displayed in the app or vocalized.
The wearer can access specific information at any given time as the Limitless AI processes all audio captured by the Pendant. For example, if one forgets a date mentioned during a meeting, they can inquire with the Pendant for an instant reminder, eliminating the need to manually search through meeting minutes.
According to Limitless’ website, the Pendant has the capability to “recall conversations throughout the day,” a feature intended for broader use beyond professional settings. Unlimited envisions the Pendant’s AI as a memory aid that retains insights from various aspects of the wearer’s life, including spontaneous meetings, medical appointments, and even personal reflections.
However, this ambitious vision may raise privacy issues. Limitless assures users that their data is secure, even from third-party AI service providers involved in audio transcription. Recordings are anonymized and automatically deleted after 30 days. Additionally, Pendant offers a Consent Mode, which identifies new voices and only records them after obtaining consent.
The Limitless Pendant boasts unlimited cloud storage, advanced data encryption, and an impressive 100-hour battery life. It seamlessly integrates with popular conferencing platforms such as Zoom, Slack, and Meet, and is compatible with various devices including web browsers, smartphones, Macs, and PCs.
Available in eight different colors, the Pendant is set to be released in August at a price of \(99. Users can opt for a free version with limited AI capabilities or choose a \)19 per month plan for full access to all features.
