Elon Musk has decided to withdraw from any artificial intelligence (AI)-focused sessions at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit on Thursday.
In the “A Summit Spotlight 1:1 Dialogue on AI and the Future” at the APEC CEO Summit 2023, John Kerry has been replaced as one of the two speakers, as indicated by the league’s online system.
San Francisco, previously plagued by violence, underwent extensive cleaning in preparation for a visit by Biden and Xi.
As per the APEC CEO Summit 2023, “Elon Musk had a scheduling conflict that prevented his participation in the event.” While his willingness to virtually attend the meeting was appreciated, it was collectively decided by all speakers that a physical presence might be necessary. The anticipation of Elon’s involvement in a potential APEC CEO Summit remains high.

The other scheduled speaker for the event, Marc Benioff, CEO of Salesforce, remains unchanged.
At 4:45 p.m. local time, a “fireside chat” between him and Kerry is expected to take place.

Musk faced criticism on Wednesday for endorsing a statement from a user on a social media platform, claiming that Jewish communities were responsible for spreading “hatred against whites,” as reported by FOX Business on Thursday morning. Musk alleged that the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) refrains from criticizing minority groups, which he perceives as their primary threat, and instead unfairly targets the majority in the West.

On the same day, the tech mogul attracted media attention regarding a planned SpaceX rocket launch. The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed on Wednesday the approval for the upcoming Starship launch, scheduled to occur on Saturday.

SpaceX announced on Thursday night that the spacecraft had been loaded. Musk later revealed on Twitter that the launch, initially set for Friday, would be postponed by a day to address a technical issue with a fin actuator.
According to FOX Business, the CEOs of SpaceX and Tesla were in San Francisco on Wednesday for the APEC CEO Summit following an event attended by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
