Guns N’ Roses have revealed an AI-generated music video for their most recent song, “The General,” blending a narrative storyline with live band footage to create a dynamic visual presentation.
The track “The General” was officially launched in December after its debut on a live album two weeks earlier. This release includes the singer’s prior single, “Perhaps,” on a 7-inch vinyl format. Initially not included in Guns N’ Roses’ Chinese Democracy sessions, both songs were reintroduced with bassist Duff McKagan and guitarist Slash after the band’s reunion in 2016.
In the music video, Axl Rose and the band members are shown performing the song, with animated versions of themselves transitioning into human forms. The video’s narrative, as explained in a press release, delves into a young boy’s subconscious as he grapples with the monsters from his troubling childhood memories, ultimately breaking down barriers in a visually stunning manner. This groundbreaking production signifies a departure from the band’s conventional visual approach, showcasing their ongoing commitment to daring artistic ventures.
The visual project was a joint effort between Guns N’ Roses and Dan Potter, the artistic director at Creative Works, a London-based studio. The collaboration between human creativity and artificial intelligence resulted in a distinct and captivating music video experience.
Guns N’ Roses concluded their 2023 tour at the Devil & Heaven festival in Mexico City last November, achieving a significant milestone of 1.3 million ticket sales in the previous year.
Looking ahead, GN’R has not yet announced any tour dates for 2024. Meanwhile, Slash has kicked off an extensive global tour with his band, Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators, giving fans the chance to secure tickets for their upcoming performances.
