Today, Google introduced generative AI to Maps and unveiled new advancements for Bard. The significant update includes Bard’s integration of Gemini Pro, Google’s latest multimodal AI model, across all languages and regions where Bard operates.

Previously, Gemini Pro was exclusively integrated into Bard for the English language, enhancing its capabilities in understanding, reasoning, summarizing, and coding.

Moreover, Bard now has the ability to create images, a feature currently accessible in English across most countries worldwide at no cost. This functionality is made possible by Google’s cutting-edge Imagen 2 model, which focuses on delivering high-quality, realistic images swiftly.

Utilizing this feature is straightforward—users can input a description into Bard’s text box to receive a diverse range of customized visuals, aiding in visualizing ideas. To ensure authenticity, Bard employs SynthID to embed unique digital watermarks into the image pixels, distinguishing AI-generated content.

Additionally, users can now cross-reference Bard’s responses with Google search results in over 40 languages by clicking on the G icon. This feature enables Bard to assess the web for corroborating or conflicting information, presenting highlighted phrases for further exploration.

According to Google, the Large Model Systems Organization, renowned for evaluating language models and chatbots across various languages, considers Bard with Gemini Pro as one of the premier chatbots available, with or without charges. Independent evaluations by Google’s third-party assessors have also recognized Bard with Gemini Pro as a top-performing conversational AI, surpassing both free and paid alternatives.
