Just as Donald Trump faced a hefty $355 million penalty in a New York courtroom following his civil fraud trial, the famously sensitive former President took to Truth Social to address images that misrepresented his physical appearance.
Accusing the media of employing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to craft these images, Trump exclaimed, ‘The Fake News used Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) to create the picture. These are despicable people, but everyone knows that.’
He further defended himself by stating, ‘The other pictures are me hitting Golf balls today to show the difference. Sadly, in our Country, Fake News is all you get!’
Simultaneously, as Justice Arthur F. Engoron delivered the verdict in his New York case, Trump’s post, featuring one image of him with a protruding belly, and three others depicting him with a slimmer physique, went live.
Upon closer examination, it was uncovered that the image in question was not AI-generated but rather a photoshopped rendition of 57-year-old golfing icon and long-time Trump ally, John Daly, captured in 2017.
Amidst his presidency, Trump frequently indulged in golfing activities, a trend that continues to this day. However, the digitally altered image shared on Friday afternoon entailed superimposing Trump’s head onto Daly’s body.
The subsequent three images showcased Trump with a more slender appearance as he engaged in a round of golf at one of his Florida courses.
Daly, a two-time major champion, has expressed admiration for Trump over the years, with the duo sharing a camaraderie forged through multiple golf outings.
Their bond extends beyond golf, with a shared penchant for McDonald’s and Diet Coke.
In 2020, Daly pledged to reduce his consumption of Diet Coke and cigarettes after a benign diagnosis of bladder cancer, following which he vowed to make lifestyle adjustments.
Daly candidly admitted in a 2016 interview with sports journalist Graham Bensinger his aversion to water and preference for the taste of coke over other beverages.
Last year, Daly fervently endorsed Trump’s potential return to the White House in the upcoming 2024 Presidential election, aligning himself with a cohort of professionals supporting Trump’s candidacy.
Notably, Daly’s unwavering support for Trump transcends mere political endorsements, with the golfer emphasizing the positive impact he believes Trump’s leadership could have on the nation.
As Trump remains an influential figure at LIV Golf tournaments, receiving warm receptions from fellow players like Dustin Johnson and Bryson DeChambeau, Daly remains steadfast in his hope for Trump’s victory in the upcoming election.
Expressing his admiration for Trump’s leadership qualities, Daly underscored the former President’s role in fostering national unity and pragmatic governance, citing his tenure’s contrast with the current state of affairs.
Furthermore, Daly speculated on the potential global ramifications of Trump’s hypothetical second term, suggesting that certain international conflicts could have been averted under his leadership.
Reflecting on a conversation dating back to the 1990s, Daly recalled Trump’s bold prediction of his future presidency, a testament to the businessman’s foresight and ambition.
