Looking back at the Future Proof Festival, a unique industry gathering that drew nearly 3,000 financial advisors, wealth management executives, fintech leaders, emerging startups, and even rap icons to Huntington Beach, California in the second week of September, Financial Planning presents an exclusive series of interviews with insiders and newsmakers. These insightful discussions were conducted by Financial Planning Wealthtech Reporter Justin L. Mack, who also moderated panels at the event.
In this segment, Mack engages in a conversation with Eric Clarke, the founder of Orion, and Daniel Crosby, Orion’s Chief Behavioral Officer, at the Financial Planning booth. During the event at the beachside in September, the duo unveiled an AI-powered portfolio management tool and introduced the BeFi20 prospecting tool designed to provide advisors with a quick “deep dive” into clients’ personalities and values in under three minutes.
Reflecting the event’s overarching theme, Clarke expressed his readiness to “reprogram, unwind a bit, and disrupt the traditional ways of thinking within the industry.” He emphasized the importance of challenging existing norms and thinking innovatively to future-proof their businesses.
Crosby further elaborated on Orion’s objectives, emphasizing their mission to equip advisors for the future. He highlighted the significance of the intersection between AI and behavioral finance (be-fi), stating that while AI has been a predominant focus, the key lies in harmonizing human expertise with technological advancements for optimal outcomes.
Looking ahead, Future Proof, touted as the inaugural wealth festival, is set to make a comeback next summer, with Future Proof 2024 scheduled to take place in Huntington Beach from September 15-18, 2024. Additionally, Future Proof is expanding its offerings in the upcoming year with the introduction of Future Proof Retreat, a supplementary event tailored for wealth management leaders, scheduled for March 24-27 in Colorado Springs.
