Sam Altman, the Chief Executive Officer of OpenAI, and Elon Musk have come to an agreement that the level of animosity on the American left is more severe than they initially perceived.

Altman, who is of Jewish descent, expressed deep regret about the extent of animosity within the left-wing community. He shared his realization on X, formerly known as Online, stating, “I used to believe that animosity, particularly within the American left, was not as significant as people claimed. I must admit that I was completely wrong. In fact, I am still struggling to comprehend it or determine the appropriate course of action.”

Elon Musk appeared to echo Altman’s sentiments by simply stating, “Yes.”

This agreement follows Musk facing backlash for endorsing a discriminatory post on X, leading to major corporations pulling their advertisements from his platform.

The controversy erupted when Musk supported a post on X that labeled it as “the absolute truth” and accused Jewish communities of inciting hatred against white individuals. The White House condemned Musk’s response as a “reprehensible promotion of antisemitism and bigotry.”

Subsequently, Musk acknowledged that endorsing the article was a “mistake” and described it as one of his “most foolish” actions to date. The repercussions of this incident could potentially result in the loss of up to $75 million in advertising revenue for his business by the end of 2023, as reported by The New York Times.

During the DealBook Summit, Musk expressed remorse, admitting, “I made a grave error in judgment by empowering those who harbor animosity towards me, possibly even those with antisemitic sentiments.”

In response to the backlash, Musk visited Israel to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and witness the aftermath of Hamas’ attacks on October 7.

Reflecting on his journey, Musk posted on X, “Actions speak louder than words.”

Despite being a co-founder of OpenAI in 2015, Musk has frequently criticized the organization in recent years. Altman, in turn, referred to Musk as a “jerk,” yet acknowledged that the Tesla CEO exhibited genuine concern and anxiety about the future of humanity.
