The manual on utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) in the workplace, published by the Communications Workers of America (CWA), promotes the seamless integration of new technologies to drive progress rather than hinder it.
Within CWA, the AI council has put forth specific recommendations on navigating the incorporation of AI into public policy. These recommendations include:
- Actively addressing challenges stemming from AI technologies in work environments through the collaboration of CWA members and management.
- Engaging with the legal system to address biases and unjust decision-making in AI implementation.
- Supporting policies that prevent discriminatory AI practices aimed at protected groups.
Claude Cummings Jr., the head of CWA, stressed the importance of ensuring that the benefits of AI, such as wealth creation and innovation, are accessible to all workers. He underscored the organization’s dedication to involving American workers in shaping the influence of AI on the future of work, as detailed in their coalition agreement.
Several months back, artificial intelligence was a central topic of discussion among SAG-AFTRA and ten other entertainment industry organizations.
