Google has disclosed that its Bard AI robot can now answer queries related to YouTube videos. By introducing the YouTube Extension in September, Bard gained the ability to analyze YouTube videos. Subsequently, the robot can now furnish precise responses to inquiries about the content of videos.
According to the announcement on Bard’s update page, the company stated, “We are embarking on the initial phase of enhancing Bard’s capability to comprehend YouTube videos.” Users can now ask specific questions about video content, such as the ingredients required for a recipe demonstrated in a video on making olive oil bread. This development aims to facilitate more interactive dialogues with Bard regarding YouTube videos, leading to a more engaging user experience.
Previously, the YouTube Extension for Bard had limitations, allowing access to only select videos. Users were restricted to requesting interesting videos from the robot. However, with the latest update, users can now delve deeper by posing targeted questions about the video content. For instance, viewers can inquire about the filming location while watching a travel video and expressing admiration for a particular scene.
This announcement follows YouTube’s recent experimentation with advanced AI functionalities, including a feature that summarizes topics discussed in video comments and an AI-powered voice assistant that addresses queries about video content.
Utilizing large language models trained on YouTube and internet data, the AI generates contextual responses to users’ questions about the video they are currently watching. Additionally, the comments summarizer tool employs conceptual AI to organize comment sections based on the discussed topics, offering users a concise overview of the conversation.
Furthermore, Google has expanded access to Bard for teenagers in most countries, enabling them to explore ideas, discover new interests, and seek solutions to common issues. Teenagers can engage with Bard on a wide range of topics, from fun activities like discovering new games to crucial decisions such as selecting universities for applications.
