In what is anticipated to be a fierce competition for AI expertise, partners have indicated that Intel’s recruitment of Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s HPC and AI General Manager, Justin Hotard, to lead its Data Center and AI Group is a significant move.
C. R. Howdyshell, the CEO of Advizex, a company under Fulcrum IT Partners, described this recruitment as a major win for Intel. He highlighted the growing demand for executives and engineers with AI experience and foresight, leading to an acquisition spree in the AI sector due to the scarcity of AI skills.
Howdyshell mentioned that Fulcrum IT Partners is on the verge of finalizing the merger with an AI-focused alternative company.
Expressing his lack of surprise at Hotard’s decision to join Intel under the leadership of CEO Pat Gelsinger, Howdyshell praised Gelsinger’s strategic acumen in recognizing the significance of AI in shaping the future landscape. He commended the acquisition as an opportunity for Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) to reinforce its position in the AI domain.
Hotard, a seasoned veteran with approximately nine years at HPE, overseeing the HPC and AI division for the past three decades, is set to commence his role at Intel on February 1.
HPE, on its part, emphasized its commitment to selecting the most suitable candidate for this critical role during the transition period.
Furthermore, HPE acknowledged Hotard’s substantial contributions, stating that his accomplishments will have a lasting impact on the company, particularly in advancing supercomputing capabilities and establishing a strong foundation for success in artificial intelligence.
Howdyshell asserted that Hotard’s move to Intel signifies a significant growth opportunity for the industry. In line with this, Advizex recently finalized a substantial AI system agreement with HPE’s HPC and AI Group.
Anticipating a period of unprecedented opportunities in AI over the next 18 to 24 months, Howdyshell emphasized the potential for business expansion and collaboration among key players such as Advizex, Dell, and Nvidia in expanding the AI equipment market.
The strategic shift of Hotard to Intel was lauded as a savvy move by Bob Venero, CEO of Future Tech Enterprise, who highlighted the importance for Intel to establish a strong presence in AI to compete effectively with industry leaders like Nvidia.
Venero drew parallels between Nvidia’s dominance in AI and Tesla’s position in the electric car market, emphasizing the need for Intel to make a lasting impact in the AI sector to rival Nvidia’s influence.
He predicted continued growth in AI sales and underscored the pivotal role of AI in shaping future technological advancements, suggesting that AI will drive substantial market growth and reshape the connectivity landscape in the coming years.
