We might establish stronger connections and further enhance each other’s enterprises with increased clarity. As per Joshua Skeens, the Chief Executive Officer of Logically, “Even if I provide the finest recipe to the worst cook globally, they will still not bake it correctly.”
Joshua Skeens, who leads Logically, underscores various aspects of the MSP, such as security, transparency, and employee welfare.
The CEO of the Dublin-based company, recognized in the 2023 CRN MSP Elite 150 list, assumed his role in January of this year. He focuses on the younger workforce, guiding them on operational methodologies to contribute effectively to the company.
At 41 years old, Skeens discussed leadership and opportunities for the younger generation entering the workforce at an event for young professionals.
“People requested my coaching assistance, which is a passion of mine, and I received extremely positive feedback,” he informed CRN. “I find it gratifying. It’s about engaging with them and striving to establish realistic standards.” This is not meant negatively, but sometimes their work ethic differs from that of older generations. They have diverse objectives in mind. They are curious about their impact.
One area where he challenges his management team is helping employees understand their purpose.
“Once that is clarified, you observe increased engagement and satisfaction,” he remarked. Users are more engaged and content when there are more happy and engaged individuals.
Moreover, he believes that Gen Z’s familiarity with systems makes it easier for them to comprehend.
“It allows them to navigate and initiate tasks more effortlessly,” he noted. They are so committed to systems that they often engage and inquire, a quality I admire. The distinction between “asking a question” and “inquiring” is crucial. I appreciate their ability to delve into our processes and provide insights into savings, processes, procedures, and technologies that we may have overlooked. They have grown up with mobile devices in hand.
Nevertheless, Skeens remains focused on Logically’s cybersecurity-first approach, the role of AI in this strategy, and meeting customer needs while developing the younger workforce and prioritizing employee welfare.
Recently, the CEO engaged in a discussion with CRN to delve into these topics and more. Refer to the excerpt below.
Channel’s Greatest Opportunity:
The integration is a significant opportunity. Many professionals are beginning to collaborate strategically. Some professionals are highly specialized today, focusing solely on areas like VoIP. In the past, MSPs hesitated to bring in another expert even if they lacked expertise in a particular area. Currently, there is a more strategic approach among VoIP professionals, emphasizing collaboration. This integration trend is prevalent in the industry.
Views on M&A:
We continue to explore mergers, ensuring they align with our objectives. Over the past four years, we have completed at least ten acquisitions. Presently, we are diligently working to unify our operations for enhanced efficiency through systems and platforms. While we are focused on internal consolidation, we remain open to additional strategic acquisitions in 2024.
Supplier Expectations:
One area lacking is education. I prioritize training, and vendors often introduce new products without adequate training materials for their teams or clients. I advocate for more educational resources from vendors to support us in addressing challenges effectively.
Current Challenges:
Our company’s success is a significant concern. While we have a strong team, I am deeply invested in our employees’ well-being. The decisions I make impact their personal and professional lives. It is crucial to prepare them for success and foster their growth, both personally and professionally.
Transition to RealMSSP:
Our transition is progressing smoothly. Our focus on cybersecurity before engaging in managed services is central to our go-to-market strategy. We are not exiting the MSP market but leading in cybersecurity. Our approach prioritizes securing our clients’ environments before providing technological support, a strategy well-received by our customers.
AI in Security Threats:
AI has made hacking more sophisticated, enabling realistic spoofing campaigns and rapid ransomware production. However, overreliance on AI for security solutions poses risks. Monitoring by human experts remains essential to ensure effective security measures.
AI’s Potential in Security:
AI can significantly reduce false positives in security operations, enabling more meaningful alerts and proactive responses to potential threats. By streamlining alerts and enhancing response capabilities, AI enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of security operations.
Industry Needs:
Clarity is essential for the industry’s advancement. Enhanced transparency and collaboration among professionals can foster stronger relationships and mutual growth. Clear communication and accountability are vital for overcoming challenges and fostering professional development.
Competitive Edge:
Our cybersecurity-first approach sets us apart. With a team of security experts dedicated to safeguarding our clients, we prioritize cyber resilience in all our operations. Our specialized focus on cybersecurity distinguishes us from competitors.
Focus for 2024:
Our vision for One Properly entails consolidating our operations, emphasizing cybersecurity readiness, and enhancing operational efficiency. By streamlining our processes and service delivery, we aim to provide consistent and exceptional support to our clients across all touchpoints.
