Amazon is now introducing the capability to generate AI-created images on Fire TV devices. This feature is being rolled out officially, starting today in the U.S., and is accessible to users owning a second-generation Fire TV Stick 4K Max or Fire TV Omni QLED Series.
The new image generation feature on Fire TV is driven by Amazon’s Titan Image Generator, which was unveiled during the AWS re:Invent 2023 conference in November. Similar to other image generators like Stability AI and OpenAI’s DALL-E 3, the Titan model transforms written prompts into images. However, in this scenario, the Fire TV AI functionality is activated by interacting with Alexa using the TV remote, enabling users to create images using voice commands.
For example, users can verbally instruct, “Alexa, generate a background depicting a fairy landscape.” Subsequently, it produces four images that users can further personalize by selecting from a variety of artistic styles such as impressionistic, watercolor, and fantasy. Once a final image is chosen, users have the option to save it and set it as their TV background.
Although the Titan model can customize existing images, the initial version of Fire TV’s feature will not support this capability. Amazon has not disclosed any updates regarding when users can expect to be able to upload personal photos into the generator.

The image generator forms part of the Fire TV Ambient Experience, which transforms the TV into an intelligent display showcasing backgrounds created by artists or personal photos sourced from an Amazon Photos account. Following its availability in Amazon’s Omni Series lineup of Fire TVs, the company recently introduced this experience to the Fire TV Stick 4K Max.
During its 2023 devices event, Amazon unveiled several Fire TV-related enhancements, including enhanced voice search functionality that enables users to ask Alexa more specific questions such as locating titles based on cast, directors, genres, or even describing a scene from a movie.
This recent announcement coincides with Amazon’s launch of three new generative AI-powered Alexa experiences, which include engaging in the “20 Questions” game, conversing with AI characters, and creating personalized songs.
