Airbnb made an announcement on Tuesday regarding its acquisition of GamePlanner amidst the widespread adoption of artificial intelligence in the tech industry. The acquisition of AI, a 12-person company co-founded by Adam Cheyer, a creator of Apple’s Siri, was finalized for an undisclosed sum.
This acquisition will further enhance Airbnb’s array of AI technologies, complementing its existing machine learning, computer vision models, and language processing capabilities. Brian Chesky, the CEO of Airbnb, emphasized the transformative impact of AI, stating that it will revolutionize the world more than any other technology in our lifetime.
Sources familiar with the matter revealed to CNBC that the acquisition deal amounted to nearly $200 million, although Airbnb has chosen not to disclose additional details about the transaction.
The integration of AI into travel companies like Booking.com and Expedia aims to enhance customer experiences, streamline booking processes, and offer tailored recommendations and itineraries.
