Google is reportedly gearing up to enhance Chrome with a significant artificial intelligence (AI) functionality aimed at improving tab organization for users. The introduction of an upcoming feature labeled ‘Advanced’ in Google Chrome, as detailed in a post on X (via Android Police) by user @Leopeva64, hints at the integration of AI technology. The settings tab’s URL, “chrome://settings/ai,” further supports this indication.
This new section is expected to introduce an AI-powered tool to streamline tab management. Leveraging machine learning, this tool can identify situations where multiple tabs are open, potentially automating the tab sorting process. This feature, dubbed ‘Organize tabs,’ is anticipated to simplify tab organization within Chrome.
Another feature in the pipeline is Autofill Helper, previously known as Compose. While the specific function of this tool remains ambiguous, users may need to restart their browsers to activate it. These AI enhancements align with Google’s overarching efforts in advancing artificial intelligence technology.
Chrome users already benefit from a feature that displays memory usage. Despite the introduction of the Memory Saver option earlier this year, Google has now enabled users to monitor the memory consumption of individual tabs by hovering over them. This display includes details such as the domain, website name, and memory usage in the format ‘Memory Usage: XX MB.’
Recent updates to the iOS version of the Chrome app have introduced various functionalities like AI translations, map addresses, calendar event creation, and more. Additionally, users now have the flexibility to relocate the address bar to the bottom of the interface.
Celebrating Chrome’s 15th anniversary, Google has rolled out numerous new features, including a refreshed ‘Material You’ theme. This update brings about revamped icons, updated color schemes, and a redesigned Chrome Web Store, enhancing the overall user experience.
