The latest offering from Samsung, the Galaxy S24 Ultra, has arrived with a plethora of enhancements while retaining the essence of its predecessor.
In terms of design, the Galaxy S24 Ultra closely resembles the S23 Ultra, albeit with some noticeable changes. The frame now boasts a titanium alloy construction instead of aluminum, offering increased durability and scratch resistance without adding extra weight – in fact, the S24 Ultra is even lighter than the S23 Ultra by a gram. Furthermore, the new model is slightly thinner by 0.3mm and shorter by 1.1mm, primarily due to slimmer bezels. As for the glass, the S24 Ultra features the new Gorilla Glass Armor on both the front and rear, which is four times tougher to crack and reflects 75% less light.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra had already reduced the curvature of the screen, but the Galaxy S24 Ultra takes it a step further by adopting a completely flat screen – a delightful change for fans of glass screen protectors.
At the core of the device is the 6.8-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a variable refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. Samsung has introduced a significantly brighter 2,600 nit panel with an enhanced Vision Booster.
Unlike its counterparts, the Galaxy S24 and S24+, the Ultra variant is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset across all markets. This iteration features a larger vapor chamber, almost double the size, to improve thermal performance during various tasks.
The new chipset has facilitated the integration of numerous AI capabilities on the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Features like Live Translate, Interpreter, and Chat Assist enable real-time two-way voice and text translations in 13 languages. Additionally, Android Auto can now summarize incoming messages and suggest replies, enhancing user convenience.
The camera system on the Galaxy S24 Ultra leverages AI extensively. With a new 50MP 5x telephoto camera and advanced AI tools like ProVisual Engine, users can expect improved photography experiences. The ProVisual Engine offers features like Generative Edit and Instant Slow-mo, while enhanced Nightography and Super HDR functionalities elevate the overall imaging capabilities.
On the battery front, the Galaxy S24 Ultra houses a 5,000mAh battery supporting 45W wired and 15W wireless charging. It comes with 12GB of RAM and storage options of 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB. Running on Android 14 with One UI 6.1 out of the box, the device guarantees seven years of software support.
Available for pre-order in Titanium Gray, Titanium Black, Titanium Violet, and Titanium Yellow, the Galaxy S24 Ultra starts at $1,300/£1,250 for the 12GB/256GB variant. Customers who pre-order can enjoy a complimentary storage upgrade, ensuring great value for money.
