Dassault Systèmes (Euronext Paris: FR0014003TT8, DSY.PA) announced today the emerging trends that are creating opportunities for startups, small, and mid-sized enterprises to outperform larger corporations bound by entrenched processes and established business frameworks.
The survey of 1,000 technology professionals in North America, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Italy revealed several key themes, including untapped artificial intelligence capabilities, IT and security competencies, and the user-friendly nature of online platforms. Conducted by CITE Research, an independent market research firm, the study delved into trends related to AI, skills gaps, and digital transformation.
Participants shared insights on various aspects such as the integration of AI tools in the workplace, concerns regarding cybersecurity, and the impact of deficient IT and cybercrime proficiencies. Noteworthy findings from the survey include:
- Leveraging essential computational capabilities can provide startups and smaller businesses with a competitive edge by avoiding missed opportunities and initial misconceptions about the full potential of AI, which is poised to revolutionize industries and societies.
- While a significant percentage of businesses have adopted chatbots and AI technologies, there is a vast untapped potential in advanced capabilities like machine-assisted design, integrations, and machine learning that can enhance user efficiency.
- The scarcity of skilled workers is a growing challenge, with 64% of respondents acknowledging the difficulty in finding qualified talent. Additionally, cybersecurity remains a top concern for 73% of individuals, yet only 40% possess the requisite cybersecurity expertise.
- The skills gap in cybersecurity can lead to adverse effects such as increased product and service costs, health-related issues, delayed time-to-market, and reduced revenues, presenting an opportunity for smaller enterprises to excel.
- Despite the widespread adoption of digital technologies, there is still ample room for businesses to enhance their online conversion rates. Smaller companies, in particular, can leverage digital platforms effectively, as many larger organizations face obstacles such as deployment costs and a lack of administration skills hindering digital transformation adoption.
Gian Paolo Bassi, Senior Vice President, 3DEXPERIENCE Works at Dassault Systèmes, remarked on the study’s findings, emphasizing the advantages that smaller businesses can gain by embracing agility, innovation, and collaboration. He highlighted the transformative power of digital twins and the role of SOLIDWORKS programs within the 3DEXPERIENCE Works ecosystem, empowering businesses to thrive across all operational facets.
The outcomes of the survey will be deliberated, shared, and explored through workshops during the four-day 3DEXPERIENCE World event in Dallas, organized by Dassault Systèmes from February 11 to 14.
