Dongfeng Motor Group has unveiled a series of what they refer to as “bright cars,” joining the ranks of many enterprises engaged in developing vehicles utilizing artificial intelligence.
In an official filing, the Chinese car manufacturer announced the launch of their latest model, Yue Xiang Zhi Neng (Sharing Intelligence), which boasts cutting-edge features such as proprietary technology for smart driving and intelligent vehicle management. These vehicles are equipped with smart homes, wireless gadgets, and cockpits integrated with cloud technology.
In addition to the smart car lineup, Dongfeng has also introduced a new energy vehicle (NEV) brand. The company plans to focus on both electric vehicles and long-range transmissions, with a commitment to rolling out over 10 different models within the next three years to cater comprehensively to the public.
As part of its five-year plan, Dongfeng aims to introduce a total of 21 customized NEV passenger car variants and 17 commercial models. By 2025, the company targets sales of over 1 million personalized NEVs.
This move by Dongfeng into the realm of Artificial Intelligence-driven vehicles is part of a series of recent advancements in the rapidly evolving industry. In September, Chinese manufacturer Nio revealed a technology enabling remote control of their vehicles. Moreover, Chinese authorities granted Baidu’s smart car subsidiary, Apollo, permission to conduct trials of its autonomous driving vehicles earlier this year.
