We can officially dub the previous seven days as ‘Galaxy week’. Samsung took the spotlight with the announcement of the Galaxy S24 series, despite earlier rumors and leaks revealing much of what was to come.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra stood out among its siblings, the Galaxy S24 and S24+, boasting a new 5x camera, Titanium frame, new Corning glass, and the distinction of being Samsung’s flagship of the year.
At the core of the announcement was AI technology, with the new Galaxies introducing a plethora of AI-powered features. One notable feature is Circle to Search, a gesture-driven function developed in collaboration with Google. By long-pressing on the home button or the gesture hint bar, users can circle over any item on the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s display to access more information. Transcript Assist offers transcription of voice notes, along with summarization and translation capabilities. Additionally, Interpreter facilitates communication between individuals speaking different languages, while Live Translate performs a similar function within the Phone app.
Enhancing the camera capabilities of the Galaxy S24 Ultra is the ProVisual Engine, which dynamically adjusts images. AI technology is leveraged to relocate or eliminate objects and photobombers from the frame, seamlessly filling the resulting gaps. Pricing for the Galaxy S24 Ultra starts at $1,300/£1,250 for the 12GB/256GB variant, or €1,450 in Europe, where the model offers 8GB of RAM alongside 256GB of storage for some inexplicable reason.
The Galaxy S24 and S24+ also made their entrance, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset in South Korea, the US, and China, and the in-house Exynos 2400 processor in other regions. The Galaxy S24+ distinguishes itself with a slightly larger and significantly sharper LTPO display, as well as a 5% larger battery.
