### Grimes Disagrees with Artificial Audience Philosophy Before DJing Event

Grimes made it clear she’s not down with some aspects of a hot new Silicon Valley philosophy …

Grimes, also known by her legal name Claire Boucher, was the DJ at an event focused on a cutting-edge ideology in Silicon Valley known as effective accelerationism or e/acc.

The gathering occurred following OpenAI’s developer conference on Monday and was endorsed by e/acc along with several other niche tech entities.

The event, hosted at a nightclub in Silicon Valley, featured various posters championing e/acc. Images from the occasion captured by The San Francisco Standard showcased a poster displaying the phrase “Come and take it” alongside a neural network illustration. Another poster depicted the words “Accelerate or die” beneath an image of a snake reminiscent of the Gadsden “Don’t tread on me” flag.

Grimes, while performing her DJ set later in the evening, voiced her dissent towards the party’s ideology. She emphasized the importance of approaching AI development with caution, contrary to the rapid advancement advocated by e/acc.

Despite some initial disapproval from attendees, videos shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, indicated that a portion of the guests eventually engaged in dancing during Grimes’ set.

Grimes reiterated her disagreement with the party’s theme on X, stating, “I deeply disagree with the thesis of this party haha but I am dj-ing in enemy territory because I think healthy discourse is constructive!”

Known for her support of AI, Grimes has expressed a willingness to split royalties evenly for AI-generated music employing her voice. She has also endorsed the concept of merging with technology and has advocated for open-sourcing all forms of art to eliminate copyright constraints.

In alignment with her views, Grimes’ stance on AI regulation mirrors that of Elon Musk, with whom she shares three children. Musk, a prominent figure in the AI field, was among the signatories of an open letter earlier this year urging a halt in AI system training.

On a related note, Musk unveiled his AI chatbot, named Grok, through xAI on Saturday.
