Photos depicting the Israel-Hamas conflict that have been generated by AI are reportedly being marketed by Adobe. Concerns have been raised by sources such as American outlet Crikey and Vice’s Motherboard regarding the potential misinformation that could arise from the dissemination of these AI-created images, which have been shared on smaller websites and social media platforms.
A search on Adobe Stock for “Israel Hamas combat” yields a variety of visuals portraying scenes of war, including devastated roads, explosives, military personnel, tanks, burning structures, and children amidst ruins.
Adobe Stock mandates that all AI-generated images are appropriately labeled as such. However, some images available for purchase only contain fine print disclosures, lacking prominent indicators that they were produced using AI technology.
One of the AI-generated images is titled “Huge explosion illuminating the sky in Palestine,” while another portrays destroyed houses in Israel’s Gaza Strip due to conflict. There is also an image depicting a distressed female labeled as “Crippled Jewish girl clings to military man, pleading for help.”
Despite efforts to label AI-generated images, some pictures may not overtly indicate their origin, potentially leading to misconceptions about their authenticity when used in news articles, social media posts, or other online content.
In an attempt to address these concerns, Adobe has emphasized the importance of transparency through initiatives like the Content Authenticity Initiative. This initiative aims to provide Content Certificates that offer insights into how online content, including AI-generated material, was captured, created, or edited.

As AI technology advances, the line between authentic and artificial visuals blurs, making it increasingly difficult for viewers to discern the veracity of images.
To help differentiate AI-generated images from genuine photographs, experts suggest looking for telltale signs such as unnatural lighting, stylized appearances, or inconsistencies in details. Additionally, conducting reverse image searches and verifying the original sources can aid in evaluating the authenticity of images circulating online.
