Samsung is gearing up for its upcoming winter Unpacked event, where it will unveil the Galaxy S24 series alongside innovative new AI capabilities. This event marks the culmination of numerous leaks surrounding the new devices, as well as teasers from Samsung themselves.
In anticipation of the event, Samsung introduced a new mobile AI concept named Galaxy AI just before Thanksgiving last year, with a scheduled launch set for early 2024. The specifics of Galaxy AI are expected to be revealed at this year’s event, with rumors suggesting a collaboration with Google on certain AI features.
Scheduled for January 17th, 2024, at 1PM ET or 10AM PT in San Jose, California, Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked will showcase the latest flagship smartphones: the Galaxy S24, S24 Plus, and S24 Ultra. The most significant changes are anticipated in the top-tier model. Leaked images from GSMArena indicate that the S24 Ultra will feature a flat screen, departing from the curved design of its predecessor, the S23 Ultra. Additionally, rumors suggest a shift to a titanium shell, akin to the iPhone 15 Pro.
While the internal specifications of the S24 Ultra are expected to be similar to its predecessor, notable upgrades include a new 50MP 5x telephoto camera, enhanced vapor chamber cooling, and Wi-Fi 7 support. The device will retain features like a 6.8-inch Quad-HD display, 120Hz refresh rate, 12GB of RAM, and a 5,000mAh battery.
On the other hand, the S24 and S24 Plus are likely to maintain an aluminum build, with more modest hardware improvements. The S24 Plus is rumored to offer a slightly larger 6.7-inch QHD Plus display, increased RAM, and a larger battery capacity, as per reports from Android Police.
Samsung is expected to showcase its new AI capabilities prominently at the event. Galaxy AI is set to introduce features such as live translation for calls, providing instant audio and text translations during conversations. Additionally, leaks suggest the arrival of an AI-powered photo editor as part of the Galaxy AI experience.
