### Exploring the Sinister Future of Artificial Intelligence on the Dark Web

A.I. tools have the potential to generate waves of irritating and prejudiced content in the possession of private internet users. This phenomenon is already evident on the private platform 4chan.

During the October meeting of the Louisiana pardon panel to deliberate on the potential release of a convicted criminal, a seasoned cognitive health physician was invited to provide insights on the matter.

The parole panel was not the sole audience intrigued by the proceedings.

A faction of online troublemakers utilized A.I. tools to manipulate images, portraying the physician in a misleading manner after extracting snippets of her testimony from an online feed. Subsequently, they shared the manipulated files on 4chan, an anonymous forum notorious for fostering abusive behavior and circulating malicious content and conspiracy theories.

As per Daniel Siegel, a graduate student at Columbia University specializing in the misuse of A.I. for malevolent ends, this incident was just one among many where individuals on 4chan disseminated racist and offensive content about individuals who had appeared before the parole board using cutting-edge A.I. tools such as music editors and image synthesizers. Mr. Siegel monitored the platform’s activities for several months.

According to Mr. Siegel, the manipulated images and audio did not extend significantly beyond the confines of 4chan. However, experts monitoring fringe online forums noted that these endeavors provided a glimpse into how malicious internet users could leverage advanced artificial intelligence tools to amplify online vitriol and harassment campaigns in the foreseeable future.
