Zero Eyes claims that its AI technology can identify weapons and other armaments using existing surveillance cameras at educational institutions.

A university in Virginia is leveraging AI technology to pinpoint weapons on its premises, with Zero Eyes, an Arlington-based company, providing the underlying systems.

This innovative technology is currently operational in a school in Washington, Virginia, located approximately 60 kilometers west of Arlington. For security purposes, FOX 5 has opted not to disclose the specific school.

The operational process involves Zero Eyes’ AI software integrating with the school’s surveillance camera network, promptly notifying the company upon detecting a firearm on campus or at any client site.

FOX 5 was granted exclusive access to observe the inner workings at the Arlington facilities where alerts are monitored by a team primarily composed of retired military personnel. Any weapon detection triggers an immediate report to local law enforcement and school authorities.

The pricing structure for this service reportedly varies between \(20 and \)50 per camera stream per month, contingent on factors like the number of cameras, contract duration, infrastructure, and network setup.

In terms of privacy considerations, the AI systems are designed solely to identify weapons, addressing concerns related to privacy issues.
