“It is challenging to predict in advance what artificial intelligence (AI) will excel at and where it may fall short,” stated Julio Mateo, Senior Research Scientist at 361 Interactive. He emphasized the importance of being prepared to identify these boundaries and substantiate use cases with relevant data.
Mateo highlighted that the objective is not to replace human roles but to augment human capabilities through collaboration with AI. “The aim is to enhance performance and achieve feats that would be unattainable solely by humans,” he added.

At Proctor and Gamble (P&G), the renowned Cincinnati-based company, AI is already integrated into their operations through a system called ChatPG. Alex Gutman, Director of Data Science at P&G, explained that ChatPG, trained on internal data, has demonstrated various practical applications within the organization. One notable use case is its ability to assist employees, especially those with English as a second language, in translating and refining documents to ensure linguistic nuances are accurately preserved.
Gutman advised companies contemplating the adoption of internal AI models to carefully evaluate a few crucial aspects. Firstly, it is essential to assess whether AI aligns with the business objectives to avoid hasty implementations that may lead to setbacks. Secondly, ensuring the readiness of the infrastructure to support AI implementation is vital, alongside addressing data readiness issues that may arise from disparate data versions stored within the organization.
Lori Mahoney, Interim Multi-Domain Sensemaking Technology Area Lead at the Air Force Research Laboratory, emphasized the significance of comprehending and scrutinizing the data inputs and outputs when utilizing machine learning models. She stressed the need for businesses to prioritize training in data literacy and verification to equip their workforce with the necessary skills for leveraging AI effectively.
