CINCINNATI — For the first time, a new artificial intelligence will display AI in front of millions of people.
Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has launched their Meta AI in their apps.
Here’s how it works: In your Facebook or Instagram app, the search bar now reads “Ask Meta AI Anything.” You can ask for assistance with writing a letter or creating a picture, such as recipes.
Plus, it does regular in-app searches, too.
This week, the WLWT team asked Meta AI if it could provide us with a recipe for Cincinnati chili.
It obliged with a photo of a cookbook that had been created by AI, as well as step-by-step instructions and ingredients for chili, the various Cincinnati chili “ways,” and coneys.

We asked Facebook’s new Meta AI for a Cincinnati chili recipe. Before it gave us ingredients and steps, it gave us this picture.
Here’s what Meta AI told us to do:
Ingredients:
- 5 cups water
- 6 oz can of Tomato paste
- 1/2 oz baking chocolate (unsweetened)
- 1/4 cup chili powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1/4 tsp allspice
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1/8 tsp black pepper
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 1/4 lb lean ground beef
Instructions:
- Fill a large pot with water by adding it to the pot.
- Heat the chocolate and tomato paste over medium heat, stirring until combined, for about 3 minutes.
- Add chili powder, cinnamon, garlic powder, cumin, allspice, cloves, red pepper flakes, black pepper, salt, sugar, and vinegar.
- Use a potato masher, whisk, or fork to break up the ground beef into very fine pieces by rubbing the raw ground beef into the pot with your fingers.
- Increase the heat to a high simmering point.
- Once boiling, turn the heat down to medium-low.
- Cook, uncovered, for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, at a low boil, stirring occasionally until the sauce has thickened quite a bit.
- Serve hot dogs or thin spaghetti over the hot dogs.
Cincinnati Chili “Ways”:

Cybersecurity experts advise against taking what they produce as gospel, especially if you’re unfamiliar with an area or topic, even though AIs like Meta’s can be entertaining.
“I would advise people to use one of these tools to produce output on a topic because it will be difficult for you to know whether it’s true or not,” said Dave Hatter, a cybersecurity consultant for Intrust IT. And you could actually do as much or more work than you would if you had done the research instead of more conventional methods.
“If you know what you’re asking for and you know how to prompt it correctly, I mean, you’ll get something that’s 60 to 80% usable in seconds, something that might have taken you hours or days to do in the past,” Hatter said. From a productivity standpoint, it can actually be like rocket fuel. When you are aware of both input and output risk and know how to ask the right questions.
