### Enhancing Classroom Engagement: How 82% of University of Delaware Students Embrace AI, with 34% Integrating it in Classrooms

A University of Delaware poll reveals a large majority of students are familiar with AI technology.

According to a survey conducted by the University of Delaware, a large majority of individuals are acquainted with AI technologies.

The latest Blue Hen surveys reveal that 82 percent of the surveyed students are familiar with AI, with 34 percent acknowledging its use in their coursework at UD.

Among the students, 54 percent of business majors were the most inclined to integrate AI into their academic tasks, followed by engineering students at 46 percent. Conversely, those unsure about its application showed the lowest adoption rates, with 28 and 30 percent, respectively.

This research is part of Lindsay Hoffman’s course on Public Opinion and Democracy, where she has noted the integration of AI in assignments and occasionally made it a requirement for students. Hoffman advocates for the establishment of clear AI guidelines in educational institutions to aid students in its proper utilization.

The positive aspect highlighted by students is the potential of AI to enhance their assignment ideas and exam preparation. Educators have a pivotal role in guiding students not only in the use of AI but also in maximizing its benefits. Consequently, students are experiencing favorable outcomes from AI integration.

Julia Manson, an older student, emphasizes the importance of AI’s utility across various academic projects in institutions. While Manson personally hasn’t engaged with AI, she acknowledges its prevalence among students in her field of study, with peers benefiting from the inspiration it provides.

Furthermore, the survey indicates that a majority of students, approximately 54%, either agree or strongly agree that they feel guilty when utilizing AI for academic purposes. Additionally, 63 percent express concerns about AI potentially generating inaccurate data.
