Supported by Microsoft, Start AI revealed on Friday that a “leadership transition” was instigated due to the board’s diminishing confidence in Altman’s managerial capabilities.
The board determined that Altman’s purported lack of transparency in his interactions with them hindered their ability to fulfill their duties, leading to his departure following a thorough review process, as stated in the organization’s blog post.
While recognizing Altman’s past contributions, the board emphasized the necessity for new leadership moving forward.

During the interim period until a permanent successor is appointed to helm the $90 billion enterprise, Mira Murati, the Chief Technology Officer, assumes the role of CEO.
