According to Google, this AI feature will suggest specialized subcategories for exploration, such as cooking classes, subscription services, unique kitchen tools, and artisanal ingredients.

By tapping into a specific category, users can explore curated gift options from both renowned brands and small businesses.

Julie Black, Google’s Director of Product Procurement, highlighted that this tool enables customers to pinpoint their gift recipient’s preferences accurately.

For example, a search for “top items for pasta-loving home chefs” will yield results like pasta-making kits and cookbooks.

The AI also recommends personalized, branded gifts such as science kits and coding sets for children with specific interests like innovation.

Google emphasized that SGE is designed to facilitate exploration by seamlessly integrating links to content providers and purchasing advertisements.

AI-Generated Visuals for Shopping

Another innovative feature allows users to visualize and discover desired clothing items using AI-generated images. By leveraging image generation technology, users can see realistic representations of their search queries within SGE for clothing-related searches.

For instance, a search for “vibrant, patterned fish print suit” will display AI-generated images matching the description.

Visitors can modify the text within these images to refine their search until they find a suitable option. Subsequently, real products resembling the generated images are presented for purchase.

This functionality will gradually roll out in the United States starting in December for users already utilizing SGE, with potential availability through Google’s Search Labs.

Enhanced Virtual Clothing Try-On Experience

Google is expanding its virtual try-on feature powered by AI to encompass men’s tops, following its successful implementation earlier this year for women’s tops.

Users searching for men’s tops will encounter a “try-on” icon for participating brands. Upon selection, the item is displayed on various models tailored to the user’s skin tone, body shape, and other specifications.

By leveraging its rapidly advancing AI capabilities, Google aims to elevate the gift-hunting experience by offering practical gift suggestions, visual search options, and digital modeling tools to ensure a smarter and more confident shopping journey this holiday season.
