In a bid to revolutionize the interaction between passengers and vehicles, Nio (NYSE: NIO) is actively recruiting innovative testers for its NOMI GPT, a virtual voice assistant powered by artificial intelligence (AI).

The electric vehicle manufacturer disclosed through its mobile app that it is seeking beta testers for the upcoming large-scale NOMI GPT, with an initial quota of 600 testers.

The latest iteration of NOMI has undergone 132 different versions and has introduced over 2,000 new features for consumers.

By leveraging cutting-edge big model technology, Nio aims to seamlessly integrate NOMI with the automotive experience, making it more intelligent and emotionally expressive.

The introduction of NOMI GPT is expected to significantly boost NOMI’s cognitive abilities, marking a milestone in the evolution of advanced AI models for Nio’s futuristic cockpit.

Nio is encouraging individuals with expertise in AI systems, a passion for providing feedback, or experience in the review sector to apply for the beta testing program.

Interested candidates must complete an online training course by the deadline on March 12, 2022, Beijing Time, to qualify for the beta version.

GPT stands for Generative Pre-Trained Transformer, a technology that predicts and generates words based on probability distributions, influencing the likelihood of subsequent word choices.

Several Chinese tech firms have made notable advancements in domain-specific research, with Nio filing trademarks for GPT models like NOMI GPT and Knowme GPT in May 2023, following the global success of ChatGPT.

Nio unveiled the ES8, its second production vehicle, in 2017, with the name derived from “Know Me” in English.

Nio car users can utilize voice commands to instruct NOMI to perform various tasks such as playing music, navigating, making calls, capturing images, and locating power swap stations.

During a scientist call on March 5 post the earnings report, Nio revealed plans to leverage the computing capabilities of its vehicles to develop NOMI GPT based on AI big models, enhancing the competitiveness of its product lineup.

Starting from March 8, Nio commenced deliveries of the updated ES8, EC7, ES6, EC6, and ET5 Touring models to multiple cities in China.

The 2024 Nio models feature a new core processing platform named ADAM, powered by the fourth-generation pilot device SA8295P from Qualcomm Snapdragon, offering double the CPU processing power, triple the GPU processing power, and eight times the AI processing power compared to the previous 8155 chip.
